What is StudentsBuild?
StudentsBuild, formerly known as GirlsBuild, was founded in 2014 with the intention of creating the future leaders of the United States. StudentsBuild is a project based learning (PBL) model designed to encourage teams to:
LA Promise Fund selects up to 60 teams nationwide to compete in the StudentsBuild Project. Each team selected to
participate will receive grant funding and training to implement an organic, community-based, and data-driven
solution to their challenge.
Coordinators (school or non-profit organization staff) will receive a stipend to support the
project. All projects must incorporate civic engagement that extends beyond their school, and must center around any of our pillars: Civic Engagement, Health & Wellness, STEM & Digital Skills, and Entrepreneurship.
Participating teams will create a website, develop social media campaigns, and use professional communication tools
to share their progress throughout the program.
StudentsBuild is open to all middle and high school students, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, color, or other protected statuses. All are encouraged to apply and participate.
